In October 2025, a major fire struck the Virgen del buen pastor area in Pamplona Alta, affecting more than 300 people, including 117 children, who were deeply impacted by the loss of their homes and belongings.
This emergency not only meant the loss of material goods, but also exposed many families to risks that affect their health, well-being and stability. Among those most affected are the children, many of whom lost their school supplies, uniforms and backpacks, which are essential for continuing their education.
Americorp and Acompáñame: United for education.
On Saturday, March 14, we visited the children of the Olla Común Virgen de Andacolloc community kitchen in Pamplona Alta, where around 50 children from the community gather. This activity was carried out as part of our “Americorp en Acción” volunteer program, through which we seek to actively contribute to the well-being and development of communities.
On this occasion, we joined the organization Acompáñame as strategic allies to carry out a solidarity initiative ahead of the upcoming start of the school year. As part of this effort, we delivered 30 school kits to children in the area, with the aim of supporting their return to school and providing them with tools that boost their learning.
During the day, various recreational activities were held using the designs that had been prepared, which brought to life dynamic games, spaces for reflection and a special moment of sharing. These activities not only generated joy and participation, but also strengthened the bonds among everyone present. Each volunteer had the opportunity to connect closely with at least one child, creating an atmosphere of trust, learning and companionship that made the experience truly meaningful for everyone.
Through initiatives like this, Americorp reaffirms its commitment to education and community well-being, working hand in hand with organizations that share our vision of creating a positive impact and supporting the growth of more children and families.
